Deerhoof - The Runners Four

While the world certainly doesn't need another blogger, I felt, as one who gets most of their music from blogposts, that I should give back to the community I so generously plunder. With that, welcome to Clap Hands.

My first album post is not exactly a new release, but the more people that can get their hands on this masterpiece, the better. I'm talking about Deerhoof's The Runners Four, a twenty song journey through some of the most twisted, honest, beautiful pop songs ever composed. While this album was hailed when first released, I feel it still doesn't get enough credit to this day. Yes, Friend Opportunity was a slicker, sleeker album. But what The Runners Four lacks in production it makes up for in raw beauty. Deerhoof is our generation's Velvet Underground, but even the Velvet's didn't have an album this consistently amazing.
